Course Overview

This is an exciting yet intensive 2 year course offering the opportunity to experience a wide range of textile practices and design skills through exploration and experimentation with processes, materials and ideas.The 1st year of the course encourages you to explore a variety of textile processes, including printed and embellished textiles, weave and multi-media textiles before more specialist work in 2nd year where you will refine ideas during design development and textile processes in order to produce more resolved design outcomes. The course is intended to provide you with a framework to support you to develop in-depth knowledge and skills associated with this specialist subject.This course will encourage both practical and intellectual skills in a stimulating and supportive environment.You will be introduced to a wide range of research techniques and creative exploration that underpins textile design. When you complete the course, you may be able to progress onto a relevant degree programme at university with exemptions from Year 1 and Year 2 in some cases, or seek employment opportunities in this field.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

32 UCAS points at A-Level (must include Art or Art related subject) together with 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above) to include Art, Maths and English (Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy will also be accepted); OR Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design, Level 3 Art and Design Foundation Diploma or equivalent Level 3 qualificationA portfolio of work demonstrating your suitability and aptitude for this course must be presented at interview. Minimum age for entry is normally 18, which may be waived in exceptional cases.

Further Study

Students have progressed to Universities in the UK . Some have made direct entry into the final year whilst others have progressed to yrs 1 or 2 of an Honours degree (This is at the discretion of the university) Many students have progressed straight to employment within the Textile industry
