Course Overview

The Foundation Degree in Cyber Security is aimed at individuals who intend to follow either a professional or academic career pathway in the area of Cyber Security. The course aims to create and prepare future professionals in the area of cyber security, whilst enhancing the learner’s technology knowledge and skills. The course team who will be involved in delivering the programme is committed to cultivating learners to develop their personal and professional technological skills and promote a lifelong learning ethos in the area of cyber security. The course will provide a broad-based learning environment that prepares graduates, who have successfully achieved the Foundation Degree, to either follow a productive career as professionals in the cyber security industry or to proceed to a higher academic qualification. Areas to be studies will include:• Equip students with a knowledge and understanding of the theory and principles underlying modern cyber security.• compare, analyse and evaluate a range of techniques, theories and methods applied to the development of applications and solutions.• Develop students’ abilities in the evaluation, selection, application and integration of a range of tools and facilities.• Develop students’ ability to carry out a programme of supervised work within a team.

48 UCAS point – (APEL applicable) – any of the below qualifications acceptable:Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Information Technology;Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma Information Technology;Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Computing;Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Computing;Access Diploma/Degree (General).Other nearby colleges offer Level 3 OCR Qualifications and successful students will also be able to apply to the FdSc Cyber Security.OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma in IT;OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in IT.
