Course Overview

This programme is validated by Ulster University and offers an excellent pathway to a degree programme based on a ‘two plus two’ model; thus, potentially achieving a degree within a 4-year period. It attracts students from various academic and sporting backgrounds including national and international athletes. On completion, you may apply for advanced entry to Year 2 of the BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science or BSc Hons Sport, Physical Activity and Health or BSc (Hons) Sports Studies or Year 3 of BSc Sports Coaching at Ulster University, providing the pre-set standards have been achieved. You can also progress to Year 3 of the BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise at LYIT or one-year top-up degrees in UK universities. Assessments include practicals, written assignments and exams. Additional coaching and sport-related qualifications will be offered which may or may not incur a small fee.

UK Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the University’s general entry requirements as set out in the prospectus. ANDStudents should normally have 48 UCAS tariff points, plus 3 GCSE subjects at Grade C including English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent.Attendance at an information session is requiredAccreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) may apply for entry (visit www.nwrc.ac.uk/apply for details). The initial offer standard may vary from year to year

ROI Requirements

Work Placement

Students will undertake a minimum of 280 hours of work placement as part of the Work-Based Learning module. This can take place in a variety of sport settings.

Alternatively, you may progress to a related degree course or onto a one-year top-up degree in other UK Universities. Also, there is an opportunity to progress to Year 3 of the BSc (Hons) Degree in Sport and Exercise at Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
