Fast Facts: A precision engineer works to provide top quality assembled and/or machined parts to many facets of the manufacturing industry, and work in many different materials including stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, steel, lead and more. Our students work in local industries and are highly sought after.The Apprenticeship NI scheme offers the trainee an opportunity to train in their chosen trade and the employer the chance to develop a highly motivated and committed workforce.The Level 3 is a two year programme in mechanical engineering in which candidates will undergo broad based training in precision machining lathe turning, milling, detail fitting, welding and basic electrical wiring and testing. In addition candidates will be enrolled on a C&G Level 3 Diploma in an Engineering Technical Certificate. On completion of the Level 3 framework the candidate can progress to Level a higher level of study, leading to higher level qualifications to meet each company/candidates requirements.

Entry Requirements

UK Requirements

GCSE Maths, English & ICT at Grade C or above and Level 2 vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering. You must also have employment with a N.Ireland registered company confirmed.

ROI Requirements

Leaving Certificate English, Maths & ICT at Grade 05 or above and Level 2 vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering. You must also have employment with a N.Ireland registered company confirmed.

As an Apprentice you will already be employed in the Manufacturing Industry.If you are struggling to find employment our dedicated team of Employment Liaison Officers will support you. Our Open Days are also a great opportunity to meet employers.

Further Study

Successful candidates can progress into employment or continue to study at Level 4/5 and Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Career Prospects

This apprenticeship is suitable for those who are currently working within this sector or are looking to gain employment within this sector as a Mechanical or Maintenance Engineer. The UK industry is buoyant at this time and job prospects are positive. Your lecturers have come thought the Apprenticeship and in some cases the Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Salary (this is an average). Starter: £15,000 to £18,000 Experienced: £20,000 to £24,000 Highly Experienced: £30,000 to £40,000+
